All Women Deserve Excellent Perinatal Care
The Marin Family Birth Center is licensed by the State of California, accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers, a member of the National Association of Community Health Centers, and is an NCQA Recognized Practice as a Patient Centered Medical Home. We believe that all mothers deserve excellent care, and proudly participate in CPSP.
The Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) provides a wide range of culturally competent services to Medi-Cal pregnant women, from conception through 60 days postpartum. In addition to standard obstetric services, women receive enhanced services in the areas of nutrition, psychosocial, and health education. The California State Legislature enacted CPSP in 1984 in response to the OB Access Project, which found that a comprehensive approach reduced both low birth weight rates and health care costs in women and infants. CPSP became a Medi-Cal benefit in 1987.
Through effective and collaborative teamwork, as a CPSP provider the Marin Family Birth Center promotes and coordinates the delivery of early, continuous and quality comprehensive perinatal services to pregnant and postpartum women and their infants by public and private obstetrical providers.
Our vision is that all pregnant and postpartum women in Marin and surrounding counties receive comprehensive perinatal services through an integrated, seamless system designed to create optimal maternal and child health.
Decrease the incidence of low birth weight in infants.
Improve the outcome of every pregnancy.
Give every baby a healthy start in life.
Lower care costs by preventing catastrophic and chronic illness in infants and children.
